South African City Press Sunday columnist, Khathu Mamaila in a recent article claiming that SA Health Minister, Tshabalala-Msimang's determination to promote natural foods such as beetroot and garlic instead of ARVs had "reduced South Africa to an international joke".

Mozambique MOH warns country's health professionals

Bangladesh: 15 per cent people not aware of HIV/AIDS

Around 15 per cent of high risks groups (HRGs) people in the country are still unaware of HIV/AIDS or they do not know how it is transmitted one from another and they have no perception on prevention of transmission of the deadly disease.

Girl Child Network wins award
The Girl Child Network of Zimbabwe, an American Jewish World Service grantee since 2004, was awarded the United Nations Development Program Red Ribbon Award on Thursday, August 16, at the XVI International AIDS Conference in Toronto. This newly-created award provides worldwide recognition to an organization that has been creatively addressing HIV/AIDS prevention in Zimbabwe for the past seven years.

Fellowships offer to develop reports on development
Indian print journalists and photojournalists have until September 15 to apply for a fellowship that would give them up to six months to write in-depth reports on issues related to the human side of development. The National Foundation for India (NFI) is offering the Media Fellowship Program for journalists with at least five years’ experience. Five print journalists and two photojournalists will be awarded the fellowship, valued at INR100,000 (about US$2,150). At least three of the fellows will come from Indian-language newspapers.
